Homework expectations in Owl Class:

Reception & Year 1 reading - Phonics Bug book read at home following direct teaching- matched phonic books go home on Friday and should be returned on the following Friday.

Guidance is given to parents about progression, letter formation, phonics terminology etc. in line with the Bug Club Phonics programme. This can be found on the school website.

Y1 spelling homework - 8 spellings are sent home each Friday linked to our phonics learning in class that week. 2 of these spellings are Y1 common exception words.

Spelling homework focuses on deliberate practice and oracy skills. Please use the 'Look, say, cover, write, check & correct' method when practising spellings. It is important to check and correct for any errors, please support your child in doing this. Class teachers will also double check when marking and any errors will be marked with a dot. Corrections can be made on the sheet or any adjacent page.

Maths - Reception will be given access to White Rose 1 minute maths to complete in the Autumn and Spring terms. Y1 children all receive their own personal logins for Numbots. This is an online learning platform that has been specifically designed to support children's addition and subtraction skills. 5 mins 5 x per week.
